Mr. Swim NY:
Projects + Work Portfolio
The following are samples of work created under the direction of the Mr. Apparel Group creative director and team. Mr. Swim NY is a lifestyle brand offering swimwear and apparel for the modern man. This portfolio shows just a few of the works I’ve done, including branding and print design created for the many subcategories of the Mr. Apparel Group line.
Peru Books Part 1 & 2:
This is a hardcover photo book I created of a family trip I took in 2016. We went to a lot of places in Peru and took a lot of amazing pictures that I had to make two books because there was a limited amount of pages I could order.
All artwork is made by me and all the pictures taken are from my iPhone. This is just a snippet of my Peru travel photo book.
Painting:
This painting I made shows me in a dream state floating with the birds in a wild jungle. It’s still a work in progress. Hopefully I’ll finish it soon.
Posters:
All three posters are made for my daughters nursery. I am a big fan of bright colors and llamas which is the theme.
Katy’s Logo Design Brief:
Katy is a party planner. She sells her banner and sticker creations on Etsy and needed to make her vision of a pink and gold logo brought to life. The logo needed to represent her girly-girl and professional personality. From her openness and quick comfortability it was notable that this party planner had a big heart, loved cute things, but wanted to be taken seriously, above all else.
The Thinking Process:
After showing Katy the mood board examples she gravitated towards the sharp, clean type, unique shapes, and gold lettering. Thus, the logo needed to be sharp, sophisticated, with hints of femininity. It was decided that a simple, playful design intertwined with a "girly" vibe that simulated in the play in color was the go-to design. As for sparkle...there was no other choice better than gold!
Cassandra’s Logo Design Brief:
Cassandra is a talented dress designer from NYC and wants to make her talents be known. She wanted her logo to have a strong clean look with a unique type. Her mission was to use her nick name and for it to look as sophisticated as her dresses.
The Thinking Process:
After showing Cassandra the mood board examples, as expected she chose a sans serif type with a chic looking border and an extravagant color pallet was the way to go. My conclusion…glamour and nothing less.
Isabelle & Manny’s Wedding Monogram Design Brief:
Isabelle & Manny Edwards wanted to create a unique custom interlocking monogram for their wedding. Isabelle and Manny wanted a monogram that represented their vintage yet modern style.
The Thinking Process:
They gravitated towards a victorian font for their monogram with a lot of twists and textures. I decided that just using only two letters from their names was not enough. To help create that interlocking look I used the letter of his last name which Isabelle was going to adopt. What you see is their initials M, I, and E.
The brief:
Clean Cut, a mobile pet grooming service was in need of a company rejuvenation. The owner of Clean Cut, Annie, wanted to show how her company differs from other companies in that it is not just a grooming service, but also, provides a natural and thorough checkup of one's pet while the pet is being washed. The client's specifications were: no pink; brand values must shine; have small details that embrace the holistic approach. Later, an approach to create the whole rollout for this small company was needed.
The inspiration:
I am the proud owner of two beautiful cats and the most important thing to me -- and I am sure to many pet owners -- is in keeping their pets healthy. Keeping this in mind, helped me create an image of the type of company I would take my cats too. I immediately gravitated towards my cats' tail movements, how it stays completely up when they were walking, how it tapped when they were annoyed and how it swayed so gracefully when they wanted my attention. The hearts in the logo represents their loving swaying tails. How do you convey "Cut" (that didn’t come in the form of scissors)? I began to think about the simple pre-school cutting worksheets and its dashed lines used to guide children to follow a straight line. In terms of holistic, I became inspired by the red cross and decided on an ambulance as the go-to automobile for Clean Cuts.
For this project, I was asked to create a flyer for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival.
The Inspiration:
I was inspired by the festive New Orleanian culture and Mardi Gras signature purple. As I began to create the flyer, I started to fold and manipulate scraps of paper that unintentionally shaped a letter from the alphabet. Thus, creating my own font type while having lots of fun with origami. The colors chosen for each letter are both light and vibrant adding to the mood of lively, festive and sophisticated.
I received a brief to create an annual report for Chem + co. A well known pharmaceutical company located in Vancouver. They were in search for an annual report with an executive flare to capture the attention of both shareholders and investors. Sophistication was key.
The Thinking Process:
Pharmaceutical medications and its chemical compounds roamed in my mind. The shape of such a compound is in the shape of a hexagon, which I found to capture both sophistication and flare. To further captivate the shareholders and investors, I added a kaleidoscopic twist within the shape. While subtle in color, the kaleidoscopic feature made it overall enticing.
Mill Valley is a city in California that needs rebranding. The brief emphasized that Mill Valley needed to promote more tourism. However, their logo and website were dated and needed uplifting.
The Thinking Process:
It hit me, San Francisco is only thirty minutes away from Mill Valley. Due to this fact, it seemed appropriate to promote Mill Valley as a wholesome and natural landscape with a large artistic scene. The demographic I chose are young millennials that seek an urban atmosphere escape and enjoy a more natural, outdoorsy type of lifestyle like Mill Valley. Since, millennials are a young, hipper crowd, I also decided to incorporate a fresh nighttime perspective.
The Wiz is a modern take on the well known Wizard of Oz, one of my all time favorite movies while growing up and still to this very day a top contender. In The Wiz, Dorthy and her friends Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, and the Tinman finally arrive to the Emerald City. Only to find a materialistic society dancing on a mono-colored stage. What is so fascinating about this dancing sequence is the constant changing of the contrasting colors that reflect not only visually and physically onto the dancers, but also, mimic their behavior i.e “never seen in green,” “I’ll be caught dead in red.”
For this project, I was asked to produce a handmade creation that showcased a favorite film, book or musical recording within a confined space. Through much research and intention, I was able to assemble my own rendition of the Emerald City’s light show.
For this project Stephen wanted help designing a LGBTQIA+ peanut butter jar to sell at a drag store as a gag. He wanted the wording to overlap and be a bit seductive.
The Thinking Process:
I knew that I wanted to represent the LGBTQIA+ community by using the colors of the flag. As for being seductive, that was funny and simple enough as you can see.
